“ye know not what ye ask”

We built
the castle of our self-sufficiency,
of our infallible wisdom,
and absolute knowledge.

We ceased
to humbly listen
tracking down and hoarding
grain by grain the gift of Your Truth.

We asked
to spread Your message
to the ends of the earth
(as we embodied it
in our own vanity).

And we didn’t hear
the distant echo
of Your pronouncement:
“ye know not what ye ask”.
